Q: Is it true that Australian sizes are one size smaller than u.s sizes? Therefore if I wear an 11 in aus should I order a 12 in U.S sizes?
A: I have seen more U.S. sizes that when converting to Australian sizes you should buy one to one and half sizes larger, and some that have equal conversions. If you are browsing our website for U.S. sizes, we have a chart that list sizes in both centimeters and inches. Shoe conversion is never an exact science due to the different styles, and manufacturing procedures. Maybe one day down the road we will get more consistency. I highly recommend measuring the lengths of your feet for your target shoe size!
Another new arrival. Great sensible shoe with style. Available sizes 5 – 12 and medium and wide!
I hope this helps,
The Shoe Lady
Q: I have searched your site for sandals or slides to fit… but ALL my searches come up with nothing… my shoe size is actually 10-1/2N, but in a sandal or slide I can wear a 10N… I have searched everywhere, to no avail. I am tired of wearing flip-flops for every occasion… they are not very attractive with a skirt or dress… do you have any ideas…?
A: Jeanine, I can certainly understand wanting a variety of looks for the summer months, and wearing a style beyond flip-flops! In searching for both 10 and 10.5 narrow, here are a few choices to get you started that will work with both dresses and skirts.
Trotters by Shelby has subtle elegant detailing and a soft footbed.
Tahiti by Softwalk comes in four colors: Black, Mocha, and Gold Wash, and sports decorative nail heads.
Valentina by Naturalizer showcases a metallic shimmer, and an adjustable heel strap for the perfect fit.
Good luck,

Q: I want to know how to find women’s shoe’s in my size I’m a male to female transsexual who wears a size 12ww in mens shoe’s.
A: The general rule of thumb in converting mens sizes to womens is to add around 1 to 1.5 to the current number. If you wear a 12ww the size range in womens might be between 13 and 14. It isn’t an exact science, but the fun part is trying different styles within that range. You may also search directly for your target sizes and closest widths on DesignerShoes.com. Mens shoes are generally wider than women’s shoes, so I recommend getting certain styles stretched when necessary for maximum comfort. Consulting our Size Chart is a helpful jumping off point.
I own a pair of these amazing boots. Summer isn’t boot weather but they work under jeans or with a cute skirt or dress depending on my mood. I have large calves and don’t find these snug. Very supportive.
Q: where can i find triple wide dress shoes for women? i have tried to wear dress shoes size 11.5 ww and its too narrow for my feet my feet width is pretty wide my feet size is 11.5 please respond asap thank you , Annette
A: Presently there are no triple wide 11.5 dress shoes. If you need an instant summer workaround, then you might consider buying double wide dressy sandals. This way your feet will have more freedom with less shoe material. When searching for closed-toe shoes remember that restretching them is also a possibility in gaining that perfect fit.
Ros Hommerson makes wide width sandals.
You may also try ordering a half size larger in order to allow for the increase in shoe space.
Jax Silver by Annie could also work because of less enclosed space. When considering a style, remember that your foot shape and thickness are key factors within the context of the shoe shape.
Good luck,
The Shoe Lady
Q: Hi I was wondering which width is narrower. Slim or narrow?
Many thanks Margaret
A: Hi Margaret, A slim size is narrower than narrow. Narrow generally listed as “AA” while slim carries a “AAA” label. The more narrow a shoe is the rarer it is to find that fit. The good news is that they do exist! You can also search for slim shoes using the filter function through DesignerShoes.com.
We have over 173 new arrivals ranging from size 5 – 15. Mostly Aerosoles!!
Q: Hi! How fortunate that I finally found a shoe lady; hopefully you’ll be able to help me out. Due to some injuries and surgeries, I’ve gone from a 11 narrow to a 12-13 wide, needing extra depth. I’m already 6’1″ so don’t really like heels, plus they’re painful on feet like mine. Any suggestions for casual shoes would be appreciated. Thank you.
A: Here are some options to get you started! Casual shoes come in an array of styles, and often can complete an after five look as well. Happy searching, and I would love to know what you end up selecting.
Playmate in pewter by Bella Vita sports a stylish buckle to adorn this comfortable casual loafer.
Aerosoles is known for their shoes that address both style and comfort! This ballet flat is a casual shoe that can make the transition to nighttime wear with ease.
Softwalk’s Treviso in dark red has a modest heel with attention paid to the softness of the interior.
Softwalk’s Adora takes its inspiration from clogs, but adds extra support with a closed heel.
Best,
The Shoe Lady
Q: Having trouble finding a glamorous shoe with a 3 to 4 inch high heel in a size 12 ww. Can you suggest some?
A: Tell me about it! The closest heel height in our current collection for a 12ww is 2.75 inches. Here are some options that might work for you! Another possibility is doing a search for wide shoes, and consider taking them to be professionally stretched.
Athena by Andiamo is accented with a patent white piping for old Hollywood glamour.
Bright dress sandal by Annie uses an embellished t-strap to add highlights to a simple and elegant design.
Annie’s Alvina in silver features an extra flash of sparkle in the toebox straps.
Good luck,
The Shoe Lady
Q: How should I measure my foot to determine if I need wide or extra wide sizes?
