Boots and Casual Shoes for Women’s Size 11 Wide

Dear Shoe Lady,
I have an 11 wide foot. Last winter I got frostbite at Christmas and then was diagnosed with Reynards Syndrome due to Fibromyalgia. I have to wear 2-4 pairs of socks in the winter and need a shoe that has lots of toe box, and last year wore a size 12 mens sneaker to have enough room. Do you have a recommendation for a casual dress shoe, possible lace up, and a warm boot that I can wear either with jeans or long dresses. Thanks so much! I just found your website and love what I see and have several selected!

Pregnant Feet

Dear Shoe Lady,
I’m six months pregnant (yay!) and my feet have ballooned. I’m looking for the best foot gear to ride me through the winter and into the spring. I was wondering if you could recommend a brand or shoe, I prefer open shoes but the weather will not allow……so any shoe that would love my bloated pregnant feet!!. I appreciate the help.

Durable Winter Shoes

Dear Shoe Lady, I go to school in Rochester and there is a lot of snow. Because of that, there is salt everywhere during the winter. What shoes will best endure the salt while looking good to match every outfit? I have UGGs but I’m afraid the salt will eat them, even though it is lambskin. Thank you for your inquiry, and that is an important shoe concern. One of the keys to shoe longevity is periodically cleaning them. If you know that your shoes will become exposed to harsher elements like salt, a quick wipe with a vinegar and warm water solution should help. This is only useful for standard smooth leather shoes or synthetic uppers. If suede protection is your aim, then you will want to pre-treat it with weatherproofing spray. It can be found in most sports stores or even pharmacies.

Australian sizes and US sizes follow the same measurements. That being said, you should always take into account the length and width of your foot. Depending on the style and manufacturer, shoes tend to have slight variations. A good place to start is with our size chart, which is in both centimeters and inches.

New boots for fall…

Dear Shoe Lady,

With every fall, I get the urge to add yet another pair of boots to my collection. This year, I’ve been looking for a knee high boot in deep cognac or dark brown to wear with a skirt and wool floppy hat (a la Ali MacGraw in the ’70s) or with black leggings and a chunky knit sweater on casual weekends – something comfortable, with a bit of a heel, and not too bulky around the ankles and calves. And not terribly expensive either. And being that I’m a bit on the tall side (5’10”), an extended calf would be great to have too!

I love both pairs!
Either would go great with causal or more dressy looks, but I prefer the pair in cognac as they have a more polished look and will add a bit more color to your wardrobe (I love wearing my cognac-colored boots with black jeans and maxi skirts).
